The Arab Academy’s ESG and Data for Good Center of Excellence Signs Landmark MoU with Stop Ecocide International to Advance Environmental Justice and Sustainability

London, United Kingdom – July 13, 2025 – The ESG and Data for Good Center of Excellence at the Arab Academy for Management, Banking and Financial Sciences (AAMBFS) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Stop Ecocide International, marking a groundbreaking collaboration to promote environmental justice, corporate accountability, and sustainability across the MENA region, Europe and the wider global community.

The signing ceremony took place in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025, with Dr. Mostafa Hodieb, President of AAMBFS, and Ms. Jojo Mehta, CEO of Stop Ecocide International, formalizing the MoU.

This collaboration is rooted in a shared commitment to advancing sustainability and environmental justice through the global movement to recognize ecocide as an international crime, with support from applied tools such as ESG principles and real-time data. The MoU will serve as a foundation for joint initiatives including research, policy development, educational outreach, and regional capacity building, particularly in emerging markets vulnerable to environmental degradation.

Dr. Mostafa Hodieb expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating:

“This framework represents a significant step forward in aligning our region’s financial and academic sectors with global efforts to protect our planet. By combining ESG-driven data with the powerful mission of Stop Ecocide International, we are empowering future leaders to build a more sustainable and just world.”

Ms. Jojo Mehta shared her vision for this joint effort, noting:

“We are proud to join hands with the Arab Academy’s ESG and Data for Good Center. This MoU strengthens our collective voice in calling for the legal recognition of ecocide and enables data-led action across borders to protect ecosystems, uphold justice, and inspire responsible governance.”

This collaboration marks the beginning of a shared journey to harness data, education, and advocacy to influence environmental policy, support vulnerable communities, and contribute to the global recognition of ecocide as the fifth international crime under the Rome Statute.

The initiative also reflects the Arab Academy’s commitment to sustainability leadership and data driven innovation, reinforcing its role as a regional hub for ESG transformation and environmental diplomacy.
